Cloud Girl

Felt Cloud Doll 2It’s such a great feeling to finish a project on my to-make-list. Even if it only took me seven months to make.  I purchased this Cloud Girl Felt Doll pattern in October.  Started sewing it in March.  Planned to have it finished by Easter.  And here we are in May, and it’s finally done.  Now you know why I don’t have an Etsy shop.

If you want to sew your own doll, the pattern is by Nonia Land and can be purchased at Kitschy Digitals.  The pattern was straight forward and fairly easy to follow.

Felt Cloud Doll*DIY Tip – Make two dolls at once.  Here’s why: you’ll probably have enough supplies to make two dolls and you’ll end up with less scraps.  If you’re like me, after you make something you’re ready to move onto something new.  Someone is bound to like what you made. So, when they ask if you can make them one, you’ll be one step ahead.

What’s the longest time you’ve spent on a project and what was it?

Weekend Sewing

handmade felt doll 4Over the weekend my daughter and I sewed this cute little retro doll by Kitschy Digitals.   The pattern and supplies came with Mollie Makes magazine (issue 34).  For those not familiar with Mollie Makes, it’s a lifestyle and craft magazine (one of my favorites).    The magazine also has a well curated blog with lots of crafty eye candy.

Here’s a picture of the completed doll; it took us three days to complete.  My daughter sewed the front of the dress and part of the face.  I sewed the rest.  It was the perfect project for the weekend.
